BROOKLYN, NY – The white flag atop the Brooklyn Bridge is now raising some red flags.  Sure, safety is a concern. But the way the media works is too.

After the painted-over stars and stripes were spotted in the big apple Tuesday morning, a few news outlets in New York ran with a “confession” spotted on social media.

Tempting as it was to believe that the “Bicycle Lobby” had surrendered the bridge to pedestrians, it was just a joke on a parody account.

There’s still no word on who actually hoisted the flag.
