The Athens Independent School District has recently decided to go to a four-day school week in the upcoming school year. The school board believes the change will help improve work conditions for teachers and problems it presents to parents, especially those who can't afford childcare, can be resolved with a bit of assistance.

But without conclusive evidence proving shorter school weeks are better for students, could the district be signing up for more trouble than good?
