PASADENA, Texas — A man fatally shot his estranged wife and injured her sister, before turning the gun on himself Friday morning, the Pasadena Police Department confirmed.

Investigators said the husband and wife, Manuel Casique Ochoa and Margarita "Maggie" Pineda, were having marital problems.

Around 8 p.m. Thursday, Ochoa went to his wife's workplace at the Tierra Caliente Refresqueria Y Micheladas in the 4500 block of Red Bluff near Kingsdale Street. The restaurant is owned by his wife's sister, Sonia Pineda.

An angry Ochoa went inside and demanded the customers leave. When his sister-in-law confronted him and told him to get out, he pulled out a gun and shot her in the arm. The sister-in-law ran outside to a neighboring business to call for help.

As she was running away, she heard three more shots. Ochoa had shot his wife twice, then shot himself.

Margarita Pineda, 20, died at the scene. Sonia Pineda, 24, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Ochoa was taken by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he later died. He was 20 years old.
