GALVESTON, Texas --Police are investigating an alleged murder-suicide after a woman shot and killed her husband and two sons before turning the gun on herself, the Galveston Police Department said.

Police said authorities received a 911 call around 4:30 a.m. about possible shots fired at the San Luis Hotel. The caller stated that they heard several “pops” coming from one of the rooms on the 8th floor.

When officers arrived, they found the door of the suspected room locked from the inside. After making entry, they discovered a 39-year-old man and a 5-year-old boy dead, police said. A woman and 10-year-old boy were transported to UTMB Hospital where they later died, according to police.

Police said the family is from the Baytown area and they checked into the hotel Sunday night.

Goosecreek ISD released a statement regarding the two boys who attended classes in their district.

The tragic circumstances surrounding these students’ deaths are almost too much to bear. A student death can have a ripple effect on a school community and, because of this and out of concern for the students’ classmates and the campus faculty, we will have additional counseling services at the school. We are grieving for the loss of young life and its infinite possibilities and we pray for the family, friends and students most affected by this tragedy

Vice president of Hospitality for Landry's Inc., Paul Schultz, released a statement about the incident.  Landry's Inc. owns the San Luis Hotel.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their family members during this difficult time. We are still gathering information about this isolated incident, however it appears to have been a murder suicide amongst a family in their room.We are fully cooperating with the Police Department during their investigation and will assist them in any way we can
