Man arrested in fatal shooting of man and ex-wife at League City home, police say

LEAGUE CITY, Texas — A man wanted in connection with a double shooting Wednesday night that left one man dead and a woman in the hospital has been arrested, according to The League City police department.

Sayantan Ghose,41, is charged with murder following the death of Clarence Wayne Harris II, 43.

According to police, Ghose was detained at a border checkpoint near Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Officers responded to a disturbance shooting at a home on Mayhill Ridge Lane near Glenn Hills Lane around 9:15 p.m.  Upon arrival, police found Harris in the driveway of the home. Investigators said he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Ghose’s ex-wife, Amanda Harris, 36, was shot one time. She was taken to the hospital, where she is reportedly in stable condition.

Investigators said there were two children inside the home at the time of the shooting, who may have witnessed some of the altercation.

Ghose was last seen leaving the house in a gray 2011 Toyota Corolla with the Texas license plate number DK6M556.

Police said Ghose is an acquaintance of the two victims. Investigators are still looking for a motive.
