HOUSTON — A woman is fighting for her life Monday after a man ran over her multiples times with his truck over the weekend, according to the Houston Police Department.

Investigators said San Juanita Herrera, late 30s, was standing near the entrance of the Long Drive Townhomes around 11 p.m. Sunday in southeast Houston when the driver, 50s, of a gray Nissan Frontier pickup truck intentionally hit her.

The driver — who police have identified as the victim's former co-worker — drove to the back of the complex entrance and accelerated as he rammed into the woman a second time, police said. He then put the vehicle in reverse before striking Herrera a third time, officers said. Police said as the driver was leaving the apartment complex, he struck the victim a fourth time.

Herrera suffered several lacerations and head trauma during the incident, investigators said. She was rushed to the hospital where reports said she is in critical condition.

While the driver remains on the run, investigators have found the trunk used in the assault.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
