LOS ANGELES – “I would like to dedicate this to my father– William Louis Dreyfus, who passed away on Friday,” actress Julia Louis-Drefus declared in her Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy acceptance speech.
It was a touching moment from the 68th Emmys as the actress dedicated her historic eighth Emmy award to her late father.
But some confused fans thought when the 55-year-old actress said her father passed away, she was talking about famed actor Richard Dreyfuss.
The Academy-Award winning actor sent a tweet to reassure his fans he was okay saying, “I’m actually not Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ father. But I really appreciate all the concerned tweets.”

The celebrated “Jaws” star was bombarded with tweets from fans who thought he had checked out.
Apparently, some thought the power of social media extends beyond the grave….with one tweet asking, “Why are people tweeting you if they think you are dead?”
Another fan tweeted, “I’m sorry you died. Hope you’re well, though.”
Of course, if fans did the math, the 68-year-old actor would have only been 13 when he became Julia’s dad.
So now his fans can breathe a sigh of relief, and Julia can honor her actual dad with dignity.
“I’m so glad that he liked “Veep,” she said. “Because his opinion was the one that really mattered.”
