BALTIMORE, MD – We’ve all heard, ‘Don’t drink and drive.’ And we know, ‘Don’t text and drive,’ too.
Well, it’s time for….’Don’t Pokemon and drive!’
Some guy did just that by driving a Toyota RAV4 and smashing into a police car in Baltimore, and it was all caught on the officer’s bodycam.
“He hit my parked patrol car,” the officer radios in to his dispatcher.
“You guys okay?” the officer then asks the passengers in the vehicle.
“Uh, yeah,” they respond.
But the driver had a confession for the cops.
“You okay?” the officer asks him.
“Ah man! That’s what I get for playing a dumb -bleep- game,” he answered.
Yeah, the driver was too busy playing Pokemon Go to notice where he was going while he was driving!
He sped through an intersection– and it could have been ‘Game Over’ for everyone involved!
“Are you okay?” the driver asks the officer. “I’m so sorry!”
“No, nobody was in the car,” the officer responds.
Luckily, no one was hurt except maybe this guy’s Pokemon score.
So, now police are saying, “Don’t play games behind the wheel!”
The Baltimore Police tweeted out video of the crash– along with the hashtag #PlaySafe and a warning that “Pokemon Go is not all fun and games.”
“Pay attention to your surroundings!” Baltimore Police Chief T.J. Smith demanded at a press conference. “There’s way too many people that have their heads buried in their phone trying to catch a Pokemon.”
Yeah, you may want to find Pikachu, but it’s not worth losing your life over….or the lives of others.
So, play it safe, people!
