NEW YORK — It’s pretty clear the colorful candy Skittles are not Donald Trump, Jr.’s favorite.
Have you seen the tweet? The GOP presidential candidate’s son shared this doozy: “If I had a bowl of Skittles and I told you just three would kill you, would you take a handful? That’s our Syrian refugee problem.”

Plenty of people think he’s wrong to compare the refugee crisis affecting so many, with a bowl of candy. They were quick to view Junior’s tweet as flippant and dehumanizing.
For example, the reply using the poignant photo of a little boy, stunned and covered in blood and dust, after a bombing. It reads: “Is this the face of a poisoned skittle?” It reads.
Another Twitter user compared the current refugee crisis to the fate of Jews in 1939 when the ship they were on was denied entry into the U.S. and returned to Nazi Germany. It says “25 percent died in the Holocaust. Not skittles.”
Skittles parent company, Wrigley, is sour, too, and was quick to respond with a reminder to Trump, Jr. “Skittles are candy. Refugees are people.”
So, chew on that!
