MOORE, Okla. — The man suspected of beheading a woman and stabbing another woman at his Oklahoma workplace Thursday afternoon had recently been trying to convert co-workers to Islam, Moore police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said Friday, citing investigators’ interviews with people.

Moore police have asked the FBI to help them investigate the man’s background, Lewis said.

The deceased victim has been identified as 54-year-old Colleen Hufford.

Officials say he also tried to kill another woman. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The incident happened late Thursday afternoon at a Vaughan Foods processing plant in Moore, Okla.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Alton Alexander Nolan, was stopped when he was shot and injured by a sheriff’s deputy. He is expected to survive.

There were no immediate indications of a link to terrorism, officials said.

The identity of the victims have not been released.

There were as many as 300 workers inside of the warehouse at the time of the incident.
