LAS CRUCES, NM – More cops behaving badly, this time in New Mexico, where two officers were fired over a bloody beat-down inside a Las Cruces jail cell.

Ross Flynn wasn’t hauled to jail for singing too loudly in church last December. It was for allegedly pointing a rifle at a neighbor during a dispute over a parking space. Jail surveillance video shows Flynn kicking the cell door. He says he wanted his cuffs removed because of his back.

“I was requesting because I am handicapped to please be removed from the waist chains,” said Flynn, “the response that I got from outside the cell was, ‘shut up or we’ll chain you to the bench.’ I responded with an expletive, ‘chain me to the bench.'”

Wrong answer. Officers Richard Garcia and Danny Salcido fly into a rage, throwing Flynn around the cell and slamming his head into the wall.

“Our community is worse off because Mr. Flynn was thrown into that wall, and that was completely contrary to their sworn oath that those officers made to protect our community,” said Flynn’s attorney, Chris Cardenas.

Flynn spent two days in the ICU for a brain bleed and a fractured skull. Now, he’ s hitting the city of Las Cruces where it hurts, suing for $12.5 million.
