BAYTOWN, Texas – A man was involved in a fatal car accident in Baytown Saturday morning, according to the Baytown Police Department.

The accident happened 1:45 a.m. while Baytown Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a gray 2007 Saturn  in the 6800 block of Garth Road.

The suspect pulled into a parking lot, but refused to stop and exited the parking lot. The suspect was speeding on Garth Road with officers following  behind him, police said.

While driving, the suspect hit a guard rail and went into a ditch on F.M. 1942.  According to police, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
