MIYAGI, JAPAN – Things were rockin’ and rollin’ along the northeast coast of Japan Friday evening, their time. A 7.3 magnitude earthquake had ‘em all shook up in the Miyagi area.

But don’t blame Mr. Miyagi or even Godzilla for what happened. Miyagi was in the region hit by that 9.0 quake in 2011, the one that caused a powerful tsunami.

A three-foot tsunami rolled ashore from this latest quake, and didn’t cause any damage. But the earthquake forced the closure of some roads and the suspension of rail service.

It should be noted that this quake occurred on the same day as the people in Hawaii and across the United States commemorate the seventy-first anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, an event that triggered a different tsunami, one that engulfed the world.
