HOUSTON, TX – People are still in shock over the Spring family massacre that left 15-year-old Cassidy Stay without a family. Now another family has been broken over violence.

Officials with Houston police say 26-year-old Candace Williams was shot to death at her home on Berry and McGallion in north Houston. It happened early Thursday morning. The gunman was her own husband, 24-year-old Phillip Deckard. The two were apparently fighting over something when Phillip pulled out a gun and shot her, then himself. Even more tragic, their children, ages 7, 6 and 1 were in the house when it happened.

“The 7-year-old is the one who heard the gunshot. We believe she reported hearing two. She ran out of the home to a neighbor’s house and asked to call police,” said Lt. J.T. Barringer, HPD homicide division.

Luckily, none of the kids were physically hurt, but emotionally, there will be a long road ahead for them.
