GALVESTON, TX - As Aaron Metyko gets set to graduate as valedictorian of Ball High School, no one will be able to question whether he was an active member of the school.  Not only was he captain of the basketball team and a member of the soccer team, he also participated in NHS, Spanish NHS and Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. He also competed in multiple UIL academic competitions.  In addition to school, he has spent time volunteering on mission trips through his church.

"High school is a great time to explore your interests and see what you really want to do," Metyko said. "It can make the whole experience much more enjoyable too!"

While he admits schoolwork has always come naturally to him, Metyko sets high standards for himself.

"One of the biggest challenges in life for me is living up to everything I can do and making sure I do my very best in everything," Metyko said.  "It gets really easy and really tempting to slack off and play XBox, but it's still a challenge to give my 110% in everything I do."

In college, Aaron plans to major in biomedical engineering. He's currently deciding between four schools to attend, Brown, Rice, Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech.
