WASHINGTON, DC – For a short time, for some people, fiction became fact, kind of like the plot of the new film, Olympus Has Fallen.

A tweet from the Associated Press said two explosions at the White House injured President Obama. Hackers took control of the wire service`s twitter account for a short time, but that was long enough for some Wall Street investors to dump portions of their portfolios, sending the Dow into the tank for a couple of minutes, until they figured out what really happened.

A similar thing happened at the Tiffany Network over the weekend when hackers broke into the Twitter accounts of 60 Minutes and 48 Hours.

Bad news for hacking victims, but good news, in a wrong way, for Twitter, because these hacks prove the influence of social media 140 characters at a time.
