HOUSTON, TX – Had an easy commute today? Thank a bicycle! Houstonians opted for two wheels instead of four for Bike to Work Day.

“It’s a good reminder that it is possible to bike to work. We have a much more friendly city than we used to have and it’s getting better all the time. And we have a beautiful day for it,” said Mayor Annise Parker.

Bikers met up at seven areas around town to ride to work together with police escort. You know, safety in numbers. Houston isn’t completely bike friendly yet.

Good news for bicyclists: the city of Houston is adding hundreds of miles of bike trail in the next couple of years.

So could biking to work in Houston? Yea, we’re sure your co-workers will love it when you have to bum a ride home on a rainy day.
