SANTA MARIA, BRAZIL – It’s a place where the culture, parties and ladies are hot and full of spirit. But this weekend, images out of Brazil were only tragic.

A nightclub fire at ‘Kiss’ in Santa Maria left more than 230 people dead, and over 100 others hurt. There were reportedly about 2,000 people inside the club when the fire started. That is double its maximum capacity.

Pyrotechnics used by the band may have started the fire. But the club’s license had expired in august. So far three people have been arrested. Their identities have not been released.

The fire is reminiscent of the 2003 nightclub fire in Rhode Island that left 100 people dead.

A fun night out should never turn to this.
