HOUSTON, TX - On the 23rd of March, the U.S. celebrates “National Puppy Day!” Because come on, what’s better than a puppy? Nothing! And what better way to celebrate man’s best friend than… hey wait… is there any truth to that saying? “MAN’s” best friend?
Do some dogs like men more than women? Or for that matter, women over men?
Research done at Marseille University in France says, if so, it’s all your fault. Yeah you! The owner!
Their study found that our dogs are reading our minds! Kinda... because it’s called “social referencing.” Their study says our dogs are sensing our emotions towards other people, and then exhibiting the same behaviors.
This is the way our kids learn, by watching us. If your dog… or child for that matter… is showing a preference or a disliking for different attributes like gender, race, height, or even weight… it’s not Fido’s fault… they’re learning from watching you!
As far as whether or not you mutt can read your mind, jury’s still out on that.
