PHILADELPHIA, MS -- It all seems frighteningly “Bland.”

Rexdale Henry, like Sandra Bland, was a community activist who was pulled over for a minor traffic stop, then arrested, put in jail, and found dead in a cell a few days later.

The 53-year-old Native American was picked up in Philadelphia, Mississippi for failure to pay an old fine on July 9. On July 14, just five days later,  his body was discovered, reportedly with two broken ribs. Any other details are sparse so far.

Now, Henry's family is getting a private autopsy and state agencies are looking into the death. He was an active member of his Choctaw community, and was said to have been considered a medicine man in the tribe.
