ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A cyclist has quite the tale to tell after a ride through New Mexico; he fell off his bike and landed on a branch, which got stuck in his neck. To get help, he had to keep riding another 20 miles to the nearest hospital.

The branch was about 2 centimeters wide and went about 1.6 centimeters into the man's neck, according to The New England Journal of Medicine. But this guy was lucky; there are any number of pretty vital structures in your neck and the hunk of wood didn’t hit any of them.

Doctors pulled the branch out, stitched the guy up and sent him on his way. They commended him for doing the right thing and not pulling it out.
