HOUSTON, TX – For the most part, the dentist isn’t most people’s favorite place to visit. But on this occasion, the UTHealth School of Dentistry had plenty of willing participants.

Dr. Robert Cederberg with the UTHealth School of Dentistry says, “We’ve gotten everybody involved.  All of our dental students, all of our hygiene students and most of our faculty are involved in this event, and trying to treat about 180 to 200 kids today.”

It’s Give Kids a Smile Day, a program that provides free dental care to kids who might otherwise not be able to get it.

This annual event is a partnership between UTHealth and Communities in Schools.

Not only do the kids walk away with healthy smiles, but the dental students who volunteer their time, gain a great experience working with them.

If you weren’t able to participate in this event, don’t worry. The school offers affordable dental care to families in our area year round.
