BETHESDA, MD – The deadly Ebola virus is back in America.

An unidentified American healthcare worker is now at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Maryland.

The patient is the 11th Ebola victim to come to the US for treatment, and the second for the NIH hospital.

Texas nurse Nina Pham was the first. She got Ebola while providing care to Thomas Eric Duncan at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

Pham is suing the hospital’s parent company, Texas Health Resources, claiming it did not provide proper Ebola training.

She also says Texas Health Resources made her a symbol of corporate neglect, a casualty of the hospital’s failure to prepare for Ebola.

The arrival of the Ebola patient in Maryland comes as the World Health Organization says this latest outbreak has killed at least 10,000 people in West Africa, with more than 14,400 cases confirmed in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

And now, there’s another concern: measles.

A report in the journal Science says the Ebola epidemic has kept many children in the affected countries from getting vaccinated for measles and other preventable diseases.

Researchers think that within 18 months, as many as 16,000 children could die from measles if Ebola is not brought under control.
