HOUSTON, TX — In the Texas Medical Center, an apparent murder-suicide inside the Ben Taub Hospital outpatient pharmacy sent customers scrambling in fear.

“We just sitting there and we hear pow, someone shooting, then pow pow, and I said everyone get down,” said Lavell Byrd, a customer in the pharmacy.

Another patient, Joe Watkins, related his fear, “It was so loud it shook my whole body I think someone`s shooting at me.”

The shooting took place behind the pharmacy counter and involved two pharmacy employees. HPD says a male pharmacy employee shot and killed a female co-worker, then turned the gun on himself.

Cops think the male had been trying to pursue the co-worker romantically in the past couple days.
