HOUSTON, TX - Family and friends shared memories and prayers on Saturday for deceased firefighter, Elo John Fehmer.

Fehmer passed away on March 27 at the age of 101.  Before his death, he was recognized as the oldest living retired firefighter in the state of Texas.

"He was a firefighter's firefighter," friend and former colleague Chuck Buschardt said. "He was honest, straightforward and a great leader."

Fehmer joined the Houston Fire Department in 1942 and retired in 1978.
