WASHINGTON, D.C.- This is bear and he`s reporting for duty! Making the rounds at D.C. hospitals. His patients? Wounded soldiers. This therapy dog`s job is to make them smile.
For a moment dogs like bear erase the wounds of war.
In combat, soldiers often build close connections with each other but these two were inseparable from the day they met.
Army specialist Tucker and Ellen, a black lab, were deployed to the frontlines in Afghanistan where this fearless pup sniffed out IEDs and the bad guys.
After a roll-over accident left him with a head injury, Tucker was sent home to Washington.
But his heart was bruised more than his head when he learned his service pup wouldn’t be joining him back in the states.
The army wanted Ellen to bond with a new soldier but that didn`t happen Ellen was a one-man girl.
Specialist Tucker, now suffering from PTSD called his state rep, Kyrsten Sinema and asked her to help.
The Army responded and Ellen shipped out… back to the U.S.
Welcome home.. Ellen! Thank you for your service.
For this army vet, doggie breath and tail wags are a priceless prescription
