HOUSTON, TX – Not many people know the importance of a heart screening like the family of Cody Stephens. Stephens was a Crosby High School athlete who died of sudden cardiac arrest in 2012, just a few weeks before graduating high school.

Cody’s father, Scott Stephens, said Cody had an enlarged heart and it’s possible that a heart screening could have caught the problem.

The Cody Stephens Go Big or Go Home Foundation hosted free heart screenings for student athletes in the Aldine school district and the kids lined up for the tests.

The foundation expects this to be the largest one-day heart screening event in Houston, with about 750 students expected in a single day.
