NEW YORK - It`s official. Hillary Clinton, former first lady and secretary of state, wants to be president of the United States.

Secretary Clinton took the very modern approach for the announcement, releasing her speech on social media.

"Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top," said Clinton. "Everyday Americans need a champion and I want to be that champion."

Clinton is comfortable on social media; she`s made her positions clear on Twitter.

She`s in favor of the Affordable Care Act. Repealing it, she says, "would let insurers write their own rules again, and wipe out coverage for 16 million Americans."
She does not want a fight over protections for pregnant women because that "should be as American as apple pie." She wants to make college affordable because it`s "an investment in our kids and economic growth."

That`s just a sampling of her platform.

The historic announcement puts former president Clinton in an interesting position. President Clinton said he`s a backstage advisor in this election unlike any other in history.
