HOUSTON — Harris County deputies are looking for the driver who hit two little boys Thursday night, killing one.

Investigators say the boys, ages 2 and 5, were playing in a field at Doss Park around 8:40 p.m.

Deputies say a ball the boys were playing with rolled onto Fallbrook Drive, and they ran out to get it. That’s when an orange or red pickup or SUV hit the boys, but the driver kept going.

“Right now we have some small vehicle parts we recovered from the scene,” said Sgt. S. Wolverton with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “We’re hoping there may be a part number on one of them that can lead us to the make and model and, hopefully, lead us to finding that vehicle.”

The impact killed the 5-year-old boy. The 2-year-old is being treated at Texas Children’s Hospital.
