HYATTSVILLE, MD – More and more expectant parents are giving the stork their home address.

According to the National Center for Health Statistics between 2004 and 2009 home births rose by 29%. Doctors aren’t thrilled about this phenomenon, but this trend is pushing – so to speak – the American Academy of Pediatrics to release a set of guidelines for the care of infants born at home.

A vast majority of women still prefer to have their babies in Hospitals, and physicians warn about the risks involved in delivering newborns outside of medical facilities.

However, society is becoming more accepting of the idea. “Women” – many professionals say – “have the right to make their own informed decisions.”

No matter what the “experts” say, no one can take the mother’s place on labor day.
