PLANTERSVILLE, Tx - On Facebook, the Plantersville-Stoneham Volunteer Fire Department shares messages of grief for 20-year-old firefighter Harley Mullenix, killed Saturday when the car she was riding in was hit from behind.

"With a broken heart we say goodbye to one of our own today,'' reads the post of Fire Chief Michael Briggs.

The accident happened near the Texas Renaissance Festival fairgrounds. Mullenix was riding with three friends who were also injured, two of them, firefighters. They're all expected to be fine.

Mullinex`s very own colleagues responded to the accident and, tragically, witnessed her death.

The online tributes tell the story of a caring co-worker. Wrote one: "That little girl had no idea how deeply she touched my heart. I'm honored I have her watching over me."

While investigators examine why the car plowed into her vehicle, Mullinex`s full-firefighter funeral is being planned.
