Houston Art Car Parade has a new route

HOUSTON - The art cars are coming, but this year's parade has one major difference.

Jonathan Beitler, Orange Show center for Visionary Arts, says, "The biggest change this year is that we've moved the parade route from Allen parkway to Smith street in downtown Houston."

Organizers say it's a temporary fix, because of construction, but even with the new route, you can still expect the same old crazy fun.
That's because there are some 230 artists submitting entries this year. A crowd of over 200,000 is expected for the parade.

"We advice people to get there early, claim their spots."
