HOUSTON, TX - Houston Crime Stoppers alongside Mother's Against Crime hosted their first-ever event at Tootsies Wednesday in an event to get local teens and parents "Prom Ready."

With the big dance approaching at many schools, the crime prevention non-profit thought it would be useful to host a panel of experts to better educate families on the dangers that can arise before, during and after the dance.

"We want to make sure that kids know what risks they're going to find, and have the answers beforehand, to make the right decisions," said Crime Stoppers Executive Director Rania Mankarious.

In addition to learning about how to have a safe prom, attendees also got tips on having a fashionable one, with a fashion demo from Tootsies staff, and the store also donated 10% of purchases made Wednesday night to the Crime Stoppers organization.
