HOUSTON, Texas -- It's an out of the box solution. Angela Box has called it quits.

The Houston Independent School District teacher is said to have made racist and offensive comments about Muslims and President Obama on a local conservative internet show. Though Box has denied the remarks, she has not been able to shake them. Activists, including Quanell X and members of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, have pushed for something to happen. Thursday morning Box submitted her resignation.

“We unequivocally support free speech but there are consequences to free speech,” says Ruth Nasrullah, communications coordinator with CAIR, “There is no potential for the students in her class to be impacted by the comments she made on public service TV so we are satisfied with the outcome.”

Box did not speak publicly after submitting her resignation.
