HPD: Man says he fatally shot daughter, ex-wife after being attacked with knives

HOUSTON - A man who fatally shot his teenage daughter and ex-wife in south Houston early Thursday is claiming self defense.

The shooting happened in the 15100 block of Alkay Street, near Almeda Road, around 2:45 a.m.

The man called HPD to report the shooting, and when officers arrived, they found his 15-year-old daughter dead inside the home.   Her mother, 44, was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where she later died.

Family members identified the victims as Sandtrece Latoya Ratliff and Ariel Toray Ratliff.

The suspect, 43, told investigators he was at home when his daughter and ex-wife attempted to attack him with knives.  He said he then shot them both in self-defense.

There are currently no charges filed in this incident.  The investigation is continuing.
