Suspects arrested after man shot during argument over $20 in southeast Houston, police say

HOUSTON — Houston police have arrested two suspects after a man was shot during an argument over money late Sunday in the Golfcrest area.

Miklos Jermaine Hawthorne, 20, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Meanwhile, Quinton Deandre Hunt, 21, is charged with tampering with evidence.

The shooting happened around midnight at a home in the 6600 block of Reed Road. The victim has been identified as Darian Vincent, 22.

According to police, a man visited the victim’s home to confront him about a stolen 20-dollar bill. The two men began fighting in the street and then continued to fight in the victim’s yard.

Hawthorne allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot the victim once in the stomach before fleeing the scene in his vehicle.

Vincent was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Witnesses described the suspect’s car to police and officers were able to locate him at a nearby gas station.
