FORT COLLINS, CO – Researchers at Colorado State University say chances of the U.S. being slammed by a major hurricane are 70% greater than last year.

Those weather guys are expected to name 18 storms out of the Atlantic alone, with nine to become full blown hurricanes, and four of those to be at least category threes. The chances of one of those big ones hitting the Gulf of Mexico is 47%.

The season officially starts June 1 and runs through November.

Until then, can we just get the weather to make up its mind about whether it’s spring or winter? We’re ready for pool season.
