HOUSTON – A couple in Katy was arrested Monday after being charged with enslaving a Nigerian woman.

Chudy Nsobunu, 56, and Sandra Nsobundu, 50, are expected to appear in court this morning.

According to court documents, the 38-year-old Nigerian woman was physically and verbally abused for more than two years while she worked as a nanny for the family.

During that time, she was told that she couldn’t watch TV or sit down during her work hours, according to court documents.

The charges also allege that the woman was never paid for her work.

After a tip to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center, the victim was rescued October 10, 2015.

If convicted, the couple could face up to 60 years in federal prison.
