Grego talks about the keys for mental recovery.
"I`ve talked before about how long it takes for physical recovery (like catching your breath) when exercising as a measure of how in shape you are. Let`s go one more step and talk about mental recovery. The time it takes for you to emotionally return to your normal after an unexpected and extremely frustrating circumstance. At my house, the wife is out-of-town, and I`m responsible for getting the kids off to school. I really wanted to prove I`m capable, I can handle it. And wouldn`t you know , this morning, right at the moment it was time to leave, (ahead of schedule by the way), I couldn`t find my car keys! This never happens!! Re-tracing my steps, checking yesterday`s pants, garbage cans, pacing the house like a lunatic..had a spare key but no alarm disarmer, so the car horn is blaring! Stress up to here! Until, fifteen minutes later I found them right where I left them. My keys were in my recording studio. I failed the mental recovery test big time! So angry, so much ugh!!! I don`t think I came back to earth until noon! We all have these situations and things happen every day at our jobs that throw us off kilter! So what to do? One theory from a yoga at NewsFix says, the quickest way to get back to center is make time for a few minutes of quiet meditation, sitting outside, listening to the birds, to decompress, with no phone after major stress - it gives you time to realize it`s not that bad, at least you`re not on an airliner going down somewhere. Without taking a few minutes, the rest of your day is liable to be one disruption after another that turns into a messy web of confusion. Oh and do me a favor, don`t tell my wife!"
