HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Harris County sheriff’s deputies say a seat belt could have saved the life of a man who died in an overnight crash.

Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, the man was driving his pickup east on Mt. Houston Rd. Just before he made it to Homestead Rd., he lost control on a slight curve in the road, went into a ditch and hit a culvert. Because he wasn’t wearing his seat belt, deputies say his head was thrown into the windshield, killing him.

Investigators say they’ll have to wait for toxicology results to know whether alcohol or drugs impaired the driver.
