LOS ANGELES, CA – From time to time, especially when that 2:30 feelin’ kicks in, we could all use a little energy. Drinks like Red Bull or Monster can do the trick. But if you’re in Los Angeles, you may need another way to get your fix. The LA City Council is talking about possibly making it illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to buy energy drink.

It’s the same ol’ argument, that drinks with so much caffeine and sugar just aren’t good for you, especially for kids. But the proposed ban could reach a little further. City officials are also toying with the idea of banning them from city employees while they’re on the clock, like sanitation workers, firefighters, police officers and more. They argue that the drinks could impair their judgment.

An official decision wasn’t made at this meeting, but the council says they’ll re-visit the idea next month.
