SAN ANTONIO, TX – What is sports without speculation?

College football fans just can’t help themselves when it comes to Mack Brown’s future with the University of Texas.

With a new athletic director and a season record or eight and four, there’s plenty of reason to believe Brown is on the way out.

The prevailing theory is Brown will be forced to resign. But at an Alamo Bowl news conference, the Longhorns head coach acted like nothing has changed. This, prior to a meeting with University President Bill Powers and A.D. Steve Patterson.

“You know, we’re, I’m excited about the game. I said we wouldn’t talk about me or my future because I am going to have that meeting with Bill and with Steve Patterson. I look forward to that meeting, but we’re not going to discuss that anymore today. We’re just going to talk about the ballgame,” said Brown.

That ballgame on December 30 against Oregon could very well be Brown’s last with the Longhorns.

It’s a potentially awkward ending to his 16 year tenure in Austin.
