CHICAGO, IL – A Chicago store owner, Luis Quizhpe, is lucky to be alive after his store was robbed.

In surveillance video, you can see two men walk into the shop and point a gun at Luis’ brother-in-law. Another man goes around the counter to try and get the cash from the register, but Luis wasn’t going down without a fight. He grabbed a bat and started swinging at the gunman, even as the gunman opened fire. At one point, you can even see the suspect accidentally shoot his accomplice, who later limped out of the store. Amazingly, only one bullet hit Luis in his upper thigh, missing a major artery.

Luis wasn’t the only one who fought back. His brother-in-law jumped in and threw a chair and a fire extinguisher at the duo as they ran out of the store.

Both Luis and his brother-in-law are just thankful to be alive.
