MESA, Az -  A crowd funding page tells the sad story of 5-year-old Helious Griffith born with Cerebral Palsy and Dystonia. His single mother, Tami, also caring for her wheelchair-bound grandfather, reaching out to find help that would never be enough.

The baby`s pain and her suffering would end over the weekend at the Children`s Hospital in Mesa, Arizona, where police say Tami killed her son, then herself.

Tami`s crisis had been escalating. The Department of Children`s Services got involved with the pair after she brought the baby to the hospital two years ago for mouth sores.

There are wide gaps in what is known about the mother, child, and children`s services but last week Helious was back in the hospital and Tami had a mediation hearing with the agency.

"She had to sign over legal custody to them or they would take the child," said Richard Griffith, Tami's grandfather.

Added grandmother Norma Jean Griffith, "They told her that they have legal custody of the baby. They do. She's just, like she said, she's the glorified babysitter now."

It hit Tami hard, according to her grandparents who say she was a devoted mother.
