AMSTERDAM -- More than a year after Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was blown out of the sky, Dutch air accident investigators say a Russian-made missile most likely caused the explosion.
They say it appears to have been a warhead fired from eastern Ukraine—an area controlled by pro-Russian separatists. All 298 people on board the Amsterdam to Malaysia flight were killed.
Dutch officials also say that commercial planes should not have been flying through the war zone; authorities should have shut the airspace down.
A criminal investigation is also underway.
