USA – There’s a growing problem in the military. Butts.

The number of active duty troops who are overweight or obese tripled from 1998 to 2010. In the first ten months of the year, the army reportedly gave 1600 soldiers the boot (what they really needed was a round boot camp, and maybe a salad).

Speaking of the war on fat, here’s a surprising victory: childhood obesity in the U.S. is leveling-off, and in some cities, like New York and Philadelphia, it’s actually going down!

Experts point to better access to fresh food, improved school nutrition and more visible calorie information.
