“Wouldn’t you like to meet your baby before he or she is born?” No thanks, but that’s the bizarre offer from a start-up company that uses 3D printing to create models of fetuses still developing in the womb.
Here’s how it works, 3D Babies takes your ultrasound scan and creates a customized figurine, with the correct facial features, body position, and skin tone of the unborn baby.
You can also specify whether you want the gender of your baby to be visible or not. And the figurines come in three skin tones – light, medium and dark.
The models are produced using the latest 3D printing technology and a custom life-size baby costs $600. The smallest representation available is just $200.
The California-based company states on its website: “The pregnancy with your child is a once in a lifetime experience. Recall those feelings over again with your own 3D Baby.”
“This is a great way to share the excitement of your new baby with family and friends. Your 3D Baby will be a treasured family remembrance of your pregnancy and new baby.”
Now if this isn’t creepy enough, you can purchase a celebrity’s 3D fetus. Although the only one up for sale is Kimye’s baby girl North.
This has to be the creepiest and most disturbing thing I have seen. I think it’s bad enough people change their profile pics on Facebook to show their ultrasound, no you can order a replica of the baby you haven’t even had yet?! What are you going to put it in the nursery or walk around to get practice being a parent.
No thanks! Call me crazy but the first time I want to hold my baby is when it’s born!
And that’s today’s helping of The Online Dish with Maggie.
