PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA – He is one of the fastest men in the world. But no one is expecting Oscar Pistorius to run away.

That’s likely why a South African judge loosened restrictions on the so-called Blade Runner’s bail.

The Olympian was initially forbidden from traveling abroad, returning to the home where the shooting took place or even having a drink – not that anything can take the edge off when you’re charged with pre-meditated murder.

Pistorius says he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder when he shot her to death on Valentine’s Day.

Under the new bail terms, he will be allowed to travel overseas, so he could start competing before long. Since lucrative sponsorships have gone away, he may need to. The only thing that could make the situation for Pistorius worse is running out of money.
