HOUSTON, TX – Protesters gathered on the Dunlavy Bridge over US-59 Thursday night in a vigil for Sandra Bland. They lit up her name so motorists below could see. They say they want to make sure Bland’s name and case aren’t forgotten.

“I’m personally here because I’m 19. Sandra Bland was 28. That could have easily been me, my mother, my cousin or anyone close to me,” said one protester. “So it really hit home and I just wanted to do my part.”

Several agencies are investigating Bland’s alleged suicide in a Waller County jail cell earlier this month.
