HOUSTON - Young spellers from over 1,000 Texas schools faced off on the University of Houston campus as they were vying for a chance to compete at this year's National Spelling Bee.

Those students were whittled down to 55 as they were competing at the nation's second largest spelling competition. The top two spellers would win a trip to Washington D.C. and a chance to compete in the National Spelling Bee in May.

Congrats to all the young participants since those efforts spell success for the future.
